Is Tiller Above the Law?

The battle to protect an unborn child capable of living outside the womb was decided in 1998 when the Kansas legislature passed a law that placed restrictions on post-viable abortions.

This law clearly states that if a baby is capable of living outside the womb-which is considered over 21 weeks of gestation-then it is illegal to abort the child.  One of the authors of this legislation was Representative Phill Kline.

Each year, statistical information on abortions was reported annually to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.  These reports show that the late-term abortions prohibited by the 1998 law not only did not cease, but have increased.

The number of illegal abortions performed during this time is estimated at 2,519, with the vast majority of these abortions having been performed by George Tiller, the medical director of an abortion clinic in Wichita, KS that specializes in  the provision of late-term procedures.

In 2002, Phill Kline was elected as the Attorney General of Kansas.  Being aware of the situation, Attorney General Kline launched an inquiry into the enforcement of post-viable abortion laws.  To date, the battle of enforcement of said law continues.

Lawyers representing Tiller have successfully managed to delay the investigations into Tiller’s practice.  Ultimately, after considerable delay brought about by the Kansas Supreme Court, the Kansas Attorney General’s office (post Phill Kline), and the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office, it became apparent that it was going to be up to the citizens of Sedgwick County to force an investigation into violations of the law concerning abortion by petitioning a grand jury.

Has Tiller’s Money Bought Corruption in Kansas Government?

After researching and gathering facts and information for peoplearewatching.com, it would be hard for any objective person to not question, at the very least, or be convinced of, at the very most, some very disturbing conclusions:

--There are illegal, late-term abortions being performed both in Wichita and Kansas City which amounts to hundreds, if not thousands, of violations of Kansas state abortion laws.  Go to Investigations Timeline (Wichita and Kansas City) and Charges Filed Against Tiller

--Dr. George Tiller has donated over a million dollars (monies combined from his personal income, his business, and from fund raising through various organizations) to a variety of Kansas officials who now control whether or not abortion laws are enforced.  Go to Follow the Money.

--These Kansas officials (some elected and some appointed), along with some judges, and regulatory agencies have knowingly misinterpreted the clear meaning and spirit of the 1998 post-viable abortion law, neglected to act to enforce this law, and have obstructed the attempts of concerned citizens to have the law enforced.  Go to Investigations Timeline and Charges Against Tiller.

--The Kansas Democratic Party, several liberal PACs, abortion industry PACs, and even a few non-profits have moved large amounts of money back and forth, like a shell game, to defeat pro-life candidates and elect pro-abortion candidates.  The money was moved in such a way so that the general public would not realize who was behind the money that paid for the campaign pieces they saw and heard.  Go to Follow the Money.

--The Kansas Government Ethics Commission, which is responsible for enforcing laws regulating campaign finances and lobbying, either cannot or will not take action against irregularities that have occurred with the above mentioned campaign finances.  Go to Follow the Money.

--The major media outlets in Kansas have not done enough digging to report the entire story.  Some written opinion pieces have even supported the actions taken by officials to delay or put a stop to investigations and charges that have been duly filed, with the assumption that Tiller has not broken any laws and that pro-lifers are making much ado about nothing.  Reports end up focusing on arguments like “privacy”, instead of focusing on whether or not Tiller has committed countless criminal acts.  The public wants reporters/journalists to answer questions like:

Has the law been broken?

Is the law being enforced?

If not, who is responsible?

Is there a connection between Tiller’s money and abortion law enforcement?

Has there been obstruction of justice?

Is there corruption in our state government?
